Adorno & The Black Heart Rebellion - Split

Adorno | The Black Heart Rebellion

I think Adorno will never get tired of releasing new records again and again. This time it's a split 7'' with the Belgian sreamo-postrockers The Black Heart Rebellion. This record is definitely better than the splits with Eric Ayotte and Sugartown Carbaret. Try it and buy it!

Adorno & Sugartown Cabaret - Spilt

Adorno | Sugartown Cabaret on Facebook

Adorno is a band you should already know - beautiful post-hc/emo/punk straight outta Portugal. Sugartown Cabaret from France go a similar way, but more diversified and with some post-rock influences. Unfortunatley, the playtime of this 12'' is quiet short and the songs are not the bands best ones.

Grube und Pendel & November 13th - Split

 November 13th @ Myspace

Yeah as you know, November 13th is one of my favorite hardcore/crust bands from Germany - desperate lyrics meet aggressive hardcore music, that's what I like. This strike here is an older split with the rather unknown band Grube und Pendel, who play a kind of epic post-hardcore mixed with elements of bands like EA80 or Fliehende Stürme. I don't know if this band has ever released some other stuff apart from this song.

Cut That City! - Metropolis EP

Yay, who'd have thought that? Another posting here, hehe. I'm not really active here anymore, but not dead though!

Cut That City! @ Myspace

Cut That City! is a band from Germany / Lohr am Main and this is their debut ep. Their style is located somewhere between post-hc, post-punk and indie with powerful vocals and German lyrics. Don't expect any kind of trash, for the first release this has an excellent sound quality. The band gave it to me to put it on the blog and share it with as much people as possible, so go spread it if you like it :).

Adorno - Said and unsaid

 Adorno @ Myspace

Yay, the new Adorno release is out! For those who don't know the band - Adorno is a fourpiece from Portugal that plays very nice melodic emocore stuff. I already had the pleasure to see them live and I can tell you their drummer is amazing, hehe. Very likeable band anyway. Some reviews say that the sound on this 7'' is more post-rock than emo, but I don't think so...

...We fade to grey - The sound of trees talking

"...we fade to grey" is a postpunk/indie band from somewhere in Bavaria/Germany. So far they released this nice piece of music called "The sound of trees talking" in 2008 on cassette and a split-cd with Fluten in 2009.
The tape-rip was done by myself and I think the quality is quite acceptable. There were 100 hand-numbered tapes made.

The Great Disappointment - Selftitled

The Great Disappointment is a three-piece that creates music somewhere between screamo, modern posthardcore, whatever...they aksed me to put their album on my blog, very nice :). Some words from them about themselves:
"Founded in february 2007 we recorded our first EP „lygophilia“ in august 2007. it was kindly appreciated by a lot of people and we played some really cool shows. our second EP "lightness & weight" followed in fall 2008. we released our first LP on 9/11 09. we see ourselves as punk/hardcore kids and as such we’re truly devoted to the whole D.I.Y spirit with all its aspects."
At the moment, they are searching for a recordlabel that would release this full-length.
Review soon on Locked Groove.

The Hirsch Effekt - Selftitled EP

The Hirsch Effekt is an experimental band from Hanover, Germany. They describe themselves as "Indieelectro Post-Punk Metal DIY - band". Sometimes, they remind me somehow of The Fall Of Troy...clean parts change with harsh screaming moments. This cd contains 2 songs that are split up into 5 parts. I think there a plans to release a full-length.

Mouthbreather - Thank you for your patience

"Mouthbreather's first full length record, captured by Chris Owens (LORDS), is a slice of punk played with a chip on its shoulder. Raw and stripped down, the songs are unrelenting attacks similar to members' past groups WOW, OWLS! and THE SETUP but still maintaining a new musical identity, keeping Richmond's punk and hardcore roots in mind. By no means is this album the safe and comforting punk that you would find in a local suburban mall, but it is a loose extension of the angst of bands like Black Flag with songs that give a sarcastic, and at times jaded, look at the scene and life." Errata - Selftitled

Errata from Portugal asked me to put their EP on my blog. They consist of 5 members who play nice epic&melodic screamo, somewhere between Funeral Diner, Envy and some softer stuff...anyway they're quite outstanding! They sing mostly in Portuguese wich is quite unique even in Portugal. It might sound weird but it actually works out pretty well.

They're also looking for a label (possibly a foreign one) and for places to play, not only in Portugal but also throughout Europe.

Fuel - Monuments to excess [Discography]

"Fuel was a Bay Area post-hardcore musical act (active between 1989-91) that combined melody, power, and raw emotion to create both personal and political songs, something that was unique during the "first wave" of emo in the 1990s. Fuel had a sound akin to early-Hot Water Music and especially Fugazi with twin guitars and dueling rough post-hardcore vocals. In fact, it is noted that Fuel was called "Fuelgazi." Fuel's style has been compared to the D.C. sound of many Dischord bands." [Wikipedia]

This discography cd contains the songs of the "Selftitled" LP (01-10), the "Take effect" 7inch EP (11-14), split 7inch with Phleg Camp (15-16), "VA - If you can see through It... It ain't Coffee" 7inch (17) and the split 7inch with Angry Son (18).

Pro Et Contra - Demo

A nice guy from Russia gave me this: Screamo / Post-Hardcore from Хабаровск (Khabarovsk), in the far east of Russia. They recorded this Demo EP in January 2009 and broke up in April same year.

Ferguson - In black and red

"Ferguson were a band that existed between 94 and 96 and consisted that were part of or went on to form bands like Crush My Calm, Mr. Willis of Ohio, Mine or Cataract. This one-sided 12” limited to 300 copies is something like their heritage released more than a decade after their break up. Ferguson play emotive hardcore between mid 90s screamo, revolution summer style and late Fugazi and taking into consideration that this record was recorded in the garage of one band member’s parents’ garage its sound is amazing."
