"Poison Apple" is their second album and the follower of "Beteigeuze". Describing this sort of music is one of the hardest jobs you can imagine. It needs time to grow and to thrive. Tending to Huey consists of musicians, that know their craft - and you gonna fall in love with the singer's voice. "...we fade to grey" is a postpunk/indie band from somewhere in Bavaria/Germany. So far they released this nice piece of music called "The sound of trees talking" in 2008 on cassette and a split-cd with Fluten in 2009.
The tape-rip was done by myself and I think the quality is quite acceptable. There were 100 hand-numbered tapes made.

Dave & Hal - Demo 2008 [Review]

Die erste richtige Review von mir - ich bin ganz aufgeregt...
Nun liegt mir hier also das Demo von Dave & Hal vor, welches Stefan, der Drummer der Band, mir netterweise zukommen ließ.
Zuallererst muss ich dazu sagen, dass die CD den einfachen Titel "Demo 2008" sicher nicht verdient hat. Die CD kommt nämlich verpackt im schmucken Digipak - mit dem Artwork haben die 4 Jungs sich echt Mühe gegeben. Zudem wurden die Songs im Tonstudio45 aufgenommen - das Studio von Blackmail; von deren Gitarristen das ganze dann auch abgemischt wurde. Also nix mit Proberaumaufnahme mal eben auf CD-R gebrannt oder so. Das hier kommt richtig professionell.
Los geht's mit dem ersten der 4 Lieder, welches ebenfalls "Dave & Hal" heißt. Und schon bin ich überrascht. Der klare Gesang fällt extrem positiv auf! Parallel dazu die noch ruhige Gitarre...ich weiß gar nicht, wo ich die Musik genau einordnen soll, die Richtung ist nicht so mein Fachgebiet. Ich würde mal sagen, irgendwo zwischen Indie- und Progressive-Rock. Nur "Indie" käme dem Sound irgendwie zu Unrecht. Zu abwechslungsreich und verspielt sind die Songs, die mich auch ein wenig an Post-Hardcore Bands denken lassen.
Nur die Texte berühren mich leider nicht so sehr, obwohl man klar deren Tiefe hervorheben muss. Es wird nicht zwingend auf Reime geachtet, Sinn und Klang haben Vorzug. Sehr gut so. Dass ich mit den, in Englisch verfassten, Texten nicht so viel anfangen kann, liegt wahrscheinlich auch eher daran, dass ich zu den wenigen, komischen Leuten gehöre, die mehr auf deutsche Texte stehen.
Alles in allem muss ich Dave & Hal auf jeden Fall loben. Das hier klingt nicht wie "Demo 2008" einer, aus einem bayrischen Kaff stammenden, Newcomerband, sondern eher wie ein Studioalbum einer etablierten Alternative-Rock Band. Passt irgendwie gerade perfekt zu einem verregnetem Juniabend wie diesen. Korrigiert mich, wenn ich übertreiben sollte.
Jedem, bei dem jetzt Interesse geweckt wurde, sei an's Herz gelegt, die Myspaceseite von Dave & Hal zu besuchen, in die Songs reinzuhören und bei Gefallen diese EP zu bestellen. Ich bin schon gespannt auf ein nächstes Release!
